According to Quebec CNESST OHS Regulations, all businesses with 20 or more employees must have a functioning JHSC committee. A Minimum of 8 members should be on your joint safety committee and present at your monthly JHSC meeting. However, more JHSC members may be required on your committee based on the size and hazard rating of your business. ALL MEMBERS MUST BE CERTIFIED AND TRAINED AS PER REGULATIONS. It is recommended to also train 1 to 2 alternates in case other members are absent during your monthly meeting. 50% can be management reps and 50% can be employee reps. You cannot have more management reps on your committee than employee reps. Employee Reps must be elected by the workers. Your Joint Health and Safety Committee must meet together at a minimum of once per month.​​
